Renewable energy advice & grants

You are not are your own when it comes to the installation of renewable heating technology. There is help in the form of advice and finance from various sources in Ireland.

To help you, we have included on this page some links to sources of information and grants when it comes to installing renewable heating technologies like geothermal heating or wood pellet boiler heating systems.

Clear Skies

Clear Skies, funded by DTI and managed by BRE, aims to give householders and communities a chance to realise the benefits of renewable energy by providing grants and access to sources of advice. Wood fuelled boiler system grants


Action Renewables


Action Renewables is a new Northern Ireland based programme to stimulate awareness of the issues associated with conventional energy use and of the range of solutions available through renewable energy technologies. Click here for funding information.


Energy Saving Trust

The Energy Saving Trust encourage energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energy sources into the economic fabric of society. To achieve this they promote the use of cleaner fuels for transport and better insulation and heating efficiency for buildings and homes and champion small scale renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.


The Carbon Trust

The Carbon Trust is an independent company funded by Government. Our role is to help the UK move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.


International Geothermal Association

The IGA encourage research, development and utilization of geothermal resources worldwide through the compilation, publication and dissemination of scientific and technical data and information, both within the community of geothermal specialists and between geothermal specialists and the general public.


IEA Bioenergy

IEA Bioenergy is an organisation set up in 1978 by the International Energy Agency (IEA) with the aim of improving cooperation and information exchange between countries that have national programmes in bioenergy research, development and deployment.
